(Español debajo) Orion Saiph is a progressive metal band formed in Cantabria in 2011, although two of the founding members, both guitar players, come from Asturias and Galicia. The name of the band was inspired by Metallica’s instrumental song, which was the first cover they started working on, in the rehearsal room. Saiph is the sixth brightest star in the Orion constellation, its name comes from the Arabic “saif al jabbar”, meaning «sword of the giant».

Orion Saiph released their first studio album entitled «Seven Stages of Grief», mixed and produced by Javier Prieto and mastered by Javier GF Escudero at Cubex studios back in 2018. In the year 2020 just after the Covid 19 confinement, they hurried back to Cubex, to record two new songs they released as a CD Single «The Forest Within the Trees». «Primitives» reached Number 1 in the Top Cantabro from Top Cantabria.

In 2021 they included a couple of song recorded live with Ovi (Bifrost, Reality Check) as guest vocalist for a compilation album entitled «Así Suena Polanco»

In 2022, with their new vocalist Mirián and including Javi Prieto as a full time member of the band they recorded and presented live «Longing for the Light».

In 2025 they released two more songs with Paula and Oskar on vocals under the name of «Curtain Call».

They have come to an indefinite hiatus.

Formados a finales de 2011 con Cantabria como punto de encuentro entre músicos de distintas procedencias Orion Saiph han desarrollado una carrera con influencias dispares como el Metal Progresivo, el Doom Metal o la música Oriental.

En el año 2018 editaron su primer álbum Seven Stages of Grief, que fue sucedido en 2020 por el doble single The Forest Within the Trees cuyo tema Primitives llegó al número uno en la emisora Top Cantabria.

Posteriormente participan en el recopilatorio Así Suena Polanco seleccionados por el ayuntamiento de dicha localidad y la asociación cultural Diamantes Musicales. En 2022 publican el EP “Longing for the Light”.

El trabajo junto a Javier Prieto (Mordor, Banshee, Reality Check) y el productor Javier Escudero ha sido imprescindible para conseguir un sonido potente y definitorio, pero a la vez abierto a diversos matices que enriquecen su música convirtiéndoles en una banda difícil de encasillar.

Los sucesivos cambios de vocalista han propiciado un aire renovado a lo largo de esta década y han forzado a la banda a reinventarse y readaptar constantemente su repertorio.

Han compartido escenario con compañeros como Delenda Est, Mad Rovers, Aranea Adventus, Granada Goblin, Evil Hunter, Sez-Naus, Bifrost, Death and Legacy, Reality Check, Dulcamara o Karonte entre otros.
